A Shan Yu Gallery
Shan on the roof

If I had to pick one scene from Mulan as my favorite (if you put bamboo under my fingernails or something), then this would be the one.  Suspense (as Li Shang looks worriedly about and the paper dragon creeps up behind him) and the ceremony of hollow honor are broken in a climax of triumph for Shan.  His followers, including the falcon, are strong and faithful, and he himself rises literally from darkness into light just as he's risen from defeat, to stride to the edge of the roof, master of all he surveys, even if the crowd doesn't understand that yet.
